To end of a weekend at the coast, my friends and I thought it fitting to have lunch at one of Swakopmund restaurants before hitting the long road home. The place that we were seeking, should’ve served oysters. One of my friends suggested The Tug, and having been there many moons ago, we agreed!
Unfortunately, what awaited us was not at all pleasant. We did receive fresh oysters for starters, and that was about all that was well prepared (of course, they don’t cook it...luckily, else that would’ve been a disaster too). The rest of our lunch was nothing short of awful! The service was unbelievably bad. We aren’t a group that would make a waiter’s life difficult, but our waitress was trying her outmost to make ours difficult!
The food was terrible! We received the kind of quality you would expect from a dodgy take away! The food tasted old, dry and overall not good! But still they expect you to pay top restaurant prices! N$ 90.00 for a scoop of dry and old rice, and a scoop of lamb curry that was well, almost without any sauce and some of the meet cubes had that old, dark brown color! As if it was left outside overnight!
A rather expensive lesson, but we will never pay them a visit again!
General Note:
"I am no expert, and my only aim is to inform fellow WOMFERS about my experiences at restaurants and maybe open the floor for discussions."
I do have excellent experiences there. Was there some time ago and can not complain about any of the above mentioned things. Service was great, food was excellent, and off course the weather was perfect.
Maybe you had a foggy day and maybe you where peed off cause you had to drive back home...
