CAR GAUARD, Good or Bad?

Last week i drove to marua mall and parked in the upstairs parking by close to checkers. As i closed the car door i realised i had looked my keys in the car. First i tried all the other doors, but they were looked. So i phoned my father to bring the spare keys. The whole time the car guard was watching me. He then came over and said he could help. What followed was quite shooking!

He took a set of keys out of his pocket with no more then five keys on it and unlocked the door. He did not have to test keys, as he knew which one would work on my car! I am very greatful to him for getting my keys out, but it makes me very nevous to know that he can just get in to my car.

He could just open the door, empty out your car, and there would be no sign of burglary, except for the stuff missing!

Do the police already now?

Another thing im worried about is if they are given these keys by the company they work for, or if the company knom about these keys. They could have them for the purpose of helping silly girls like me that lock the keys in the car. It still makes me uncomfortable though.

is it even illigal to have such keys? Reporting it to the police may not even help...

Unfortunately i didnt get his name, or his bosses number, and i would have many more awnsers! I was scared he would suspect something and steal my car! Ek!

Read carefully..

I never implied the car guard was a criminal, or that he has criminal intentions. I was simply shocked at the fact that you think your safe and your actually not. If i decide to leave my Phone in the car, lock the car put the alarm on it should be safe, but now we know that simply anyone can get in your car and take your stuff, and it seems like know one was there.

I do apollogise for not having much car experience, and not knowing that there is such a thing as a master key. In my opinion if there is only autthorised dealers should have them, that you can phone and they drive out to help you!

Re:

I new that in alot of the older models this was possible especially with "bakkies" & city golf but thought that more modern cars where more specific.
Even if this is the malls master keys I still do not think that a car gaurd should have them, he might have pure intensions to only help people but if some scolly sees this, he might steel that key and then what????
Rather ,if this is the case, the keys should be in a safe with management and not that easilly accesable??? You could then notify the car guard that if there is a situhation like that they can advise the person to contact managment. This is a very scary thought and I think the less people who have access to such keys the better even if it is ment for helping people out of sticky situhations.....
Its a very good questions are keys like this legal?

As far as I know

with the older models certains work on a few cars, I have seen some one open and start a Toyota Bakkie with a Ford key, but this was YEARS ago. So I dont think its a master as much as a key from another car that works on more than one modle????

Nooo man ouens whats wrong with you ppl???

No no no no noooooo
Believe in the good of the Namibin ppl. Moet tog nou nie so wees nie....
Look how friendly he looks at you when you give him a buck or 2. He smiles at you and leaves.
Nee wat I argued once with one of them. I was in a shop for sheesh maybe 30seconds. I gave him 50c. And he was so peed off with me. So I calculated... 50c/ 30sec. that per hour hmmmm N$60.00 I think....
Nee wat I don't give em shi*. They are bedelaars like all other bedelaars. The idea was good but gone down the drain like all most other good ideas that do not get maintained in this country.
And remember they are a DONATION!!! So what the hell is he peed off about even if I just give him 5c. You donate it to him. Like a bedelaar.
So if you want to get rid of him.... pay him 5c in advance he will leave you allone.
BUT...
I also heard good things. Like a few of them helping old tannies carry bags and protecting them from them bonchochos sleg vuilgoed. So like all things... You get tyhe commited worker and you get the hunter and gatherer...

The big Question!

And in acttuall fact, the whole point is that a set of keys available that can get in to your car.

Imagin if you did your grossiry shopping, put the stuff in the car. And go to coffe with a friend. When you get home you notice that things are missing that you are sure you baught, and eventually convince your self that you simply forgot to buy it.

When in actual fact, some one has been in your car, and left no visible evidence..

This is scarry!
