SPCA and Ramatex

I spoke to a volunteer from the Cat Protection Society the other day about the SPCA and the Cat Protection Society having approached the municipality to purchase the land that the failed Ramatex factory was situated on. The SPCA has outgrown their current premises and are unable to expand due to being in a residential zoned area. Initial requests for alternative property to purchase were made back in 2007 with no response whatsoever. I have subsequently received a copy of a letter that the SPCA has sent to the Municipality asking for permission to purchase the Ramatex land and thought that it was time that we all helped out - What I would love for you to do is to send a letter to Mr. Henson at: Katutura Customer Care Centre, P O Box 2085, Windhoek.

In this letter I do not want you to only apply pressure on the Municipality to possibly allow the SPCA and Cat Protection Society to purchase the land but I would love for you to pressure them to give the land (that according to all reports needs an extreme makeover that not even Ty Pennington would accomplish) to them for nothing. That is correct - Please send a letter to the Municipality telling them that you believe they should give this land to the SPCA, hopefully with enough pressure from citizens they will have to at least answer. Send the letter, it is your RIGHT!!

Please also send a copy of the letter that you sent to fax: 237379, or 225715, or 248141.

Re: SPCA & Ramatex

In my opinion the SPCA does not stand a chance to get the Ramatex Land. Too many other parties interested who would willingly pay more than what the SPCA could afford, and the City stands to loose too much should they sell to the SPCA at probably a lower rate than what they would to another party.

Surley there must be some other land the City could provide to the SPCA? Would suggest they talk to Barry Watson of Townplanning (Municipality), maybe he could suggest an alternative site.
