Hey all, I don’t know if you recall one of my recent WOMF’s for help to quit smoking. I tried a lot of things and found something that I feel really works, so I decided to share it with you. It is a book written by Allen Carr called "Allen Carr’s easy way to stop smoking". This book is amazing, in that it takes a whole new approach. It doesn’t carry on about all the diseases that one can get and all the other stuff that we already know, although it does have a small reference to that. It helps you to understand that if we want to carry on paying through our noses for the rest of our lives just for the privilege of destroying ourselves mentally and physically in a lifetime of slavery, a lifetime of filth and diseases, then we should carry on smoking. It helps us to understand why we smoke, that it has no advantages to us, but rather disadvantages and what we can do to be free of that horrible little monster for the rest of our lives. All you smokers out there know that we do not smoke because we enjoy it! You can’t tell me that you enjoy suffocating your lungs with tar substances and stinking constantly, not to mention the bad breath, etc. And don’t start with "But I enjoy smoking, it relaxes me or it helps me concentrate or I am gonna die anyway" That is not the case. Should I go on? This book has changed my life and I highly recommend it to all. Take that final step of freedom from nicotine!!! I have!!!!!

How long have you been 'smoke-free'?
Unfortunately I have to play Devil's Advocate here. A colleague of mine used Allen Carr's book and quit successfully for a number of years, but for some reason he started smoking again. I have asked, he can't explain why!
He then decided, instead of re-reading the book that he would get the CDs to listen to instead.
Unfortunately he has not been successful and blames it on the fact that he still has 5 minutes to listen to on the last CD.
So from my experience I do think that if your mind is not in the right place you can stand on your head and whistle through your ears you won't manage.
I also quit smoking so I know just how difficult it can be - I admit that I took the 'easy' way out - I used Zyban, which worked like a charm
Congratulations again!

WOW!! I am going to get that book and I know already who to buy it for as a gift. You sound FREE and HAPPY with your decision. I am not a smoker but I have always felt that Namibians really smoke. Compared to other nations that is, bit unfair comparison I know but I couldn't help noticing. I guess its because where I come from its mainly men who smoke, the few women who does, hide it because its considered unapropriate for a woman to smoke.
I also am aware that even though I may buy the book for my friend the decision will have to be his at the end of the day.

Great stuff for quitting Zetien! I also tried Zyban, but it seemed to be more of a hormonal mess up more than anything else. Stuffed up everything on my side. I would of loved it to have worked though. About your friend using the book, as you say he did manage to quit for a number of years, so it obviously does work. But as is said in the book, the nicotine trap is easy to fall into again. I mean Nicotine is a drug and smoking is a drug addiction. They say that one cigarette is enough to get you hooked. Nothing is ever 100% effective. The book has helped for millions but there are the odd ones that fall back into smoking again, I'm sure I won't be one of them though. He even mentions it in the book, as to explain on how to refrain from smoking once it has happened to you AGAIN. But yes, I do agree with you on your "frame of mind" theory. I think everything you try to do in life only succeeds when you have the right frame of mind. But this book is what helps put you in that frame of mind, so to say helps convince you of what you already know, but fail to admit. There is absolutely nothing good about smoking. Thanks for all the input though and feedback from others using the book. YIPPEE!!! I'M A NON-SMOKER!

I've never read the book, I have to admit!
I have also heard from others that using Zyban caused more problems than it was worth for them - one person going as far as saying that quitting the Zyban was harder than quitting the cigarettes. I think I was just VERY fortunate that it worked for me
I would have been too chicken to have tried quitting cold turkey and have the utmost respect for anyone who can. So hats off to you!
Have a great, smoke-free weekend! :)

I just want to reply to your blog, this is absolutely correct, I must admit, I stopped for 3 years after reading the book, I started again (stupid me), but got the book again and stopped again, this time for good, the only problem with the book is the fact to convince the people (smokers) that by reading a book they will actually stop smoking!! Anyone one who is a smoker reading this, you have nothing to loose by reading the book, I mean, if you read it and you don't stop, you haven't lost anything!!!

Hey all, wanted to update you! My first goal was to quit smoking on the 28th of July, but I finished eading the book the 16th of July and quit the same day! It has been two weeks now and still going very strong. So I have no doubts in me yet!!!! I hope this is motivating for the others out there.

Friend of mine claims to have quit by using some sort of hypnoses CD, apparently he stopped overnight. Can't say if he has started again or not.

Hi AJRII,
My boyfriend is in the process of trying to quit smoking - struggling a bit as he's going cold turkey - but I am so proud of him for doing it.
Going through this process with him made me think of you- and I was wondering how you are holding up - and how's is life as a non-smoker going?

Things are going great! I have struggled once or twice, expecially when partying. I have the book in electronic format so if you are interested I could always forward it to you!!! I have given it to three other people, and things are looking good for them too.

That is fantastic to hear!
I understand the whole partying thing - first time I managed I felt like I had managed to climb Kilimanjaro. I could conquer anything!
If you could forward the e-book to me I would really appreciate it.
I think anything that makes it easier would help my very brave other half.
My e-mail address is: margo.long@gmail.com
Thanks, and I all of the best!
